The Comfort Zone.
It's a lovely place to be, isn't it? Wearing the same soft, pilly sweater, eating the same fat-loaded comfort foods, seeing the same friends, even writing the same types of books.
I published my first romantic suspense with Harlequin Intrigue in
2001. Since then I've written 32 books for Intrigue. My next
Intrigue is
Cover Me, an anthology I wrote with Rita Herron
and Joanna Wayne, on shelves in March of 2013. I love
writing for Intrigue. To me it still seems like a dream and it's definitely a dream come true.
But as much as I love writing romantic suspense, I also love
writing other genres of romantic fiction--paranormal romance,
contemporary romance and even historical romance.
Recently, I've been flexing those out-of-shape writing muscles, and I'm
happy to announce that I have several short stories from different genres up on my Amazon Kindle page. I also have an historical romance novella called September
Rain and a light contemporary romance, It's In His Kiss,
that will be available for our InkJockeys BookDerby event, right here on the InkJockeys Blog on
December 5 and 6.
My fellow authors and I will be offering a ton of 99¢
and FREE Kindle books for readers. Come grab some spectacular books
at prices that can't be beat.
I'd love to hear if any of you have stepped out of your comfort zone lately. It's a brave and daring thing to do (in my opinion) and I applaud you for doing it.
OMG, forgot to say that today's my anniversary! I've been married to my heart's love for 38 years. Unbelievable! (That we're this old, argh!)
ReplyDeleteMallory, congratulations. Thirty-eight years, imagine. I love the sentiment of your blog, getting out of your comfort zone, and I look forward to working with you in Ink Jockeys.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary. Quite an achievement. And congratulations on flexing your writing muscles. Yes, it's fun to try new things and be in charge of the published end of the equation.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!!! Wow. That's quite an accomplishment. I really like your thoughts on 'comfort zone.' I've been trying to push my boundaries lately, too. It's scary :-) But so worth it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! Lately my whole life's been lived way out of my comfort zone. Unfortunately, not by choice. However, on a more philosophical note, there's something to be said for baptism by fire. You learn to deal in ways you might never have thought possible before, and hopefully wind up a stronger person on the other side. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am forcing myself to work very fast, although I eventually slow down and then have to walk away for a day or so.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary, Mallory!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely happier when I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone, in writing, in trying new things, and in traveling new places. Definitely scary! But it feeds my creativity like nothing else.
Happy Anniversary, Mallory!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your titles and your covers.
Thanks everybody! Thanks for the good wishes. We had a great day, went to see LINCOLN, which is definitely going to garner a bunch of awards! Michael dragged me -- I don't usually like historical costume dramas -- but I really enjoyed DDL and Sally Field. She did an awesome job!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend everybody!
Mallory
I hope you had a wonderful anniversary. Good luck with your free days on It's In His Kiss.
